Natural Cat Treats Archives

So the company I’m working on building is for all natural pet treats (not just dogs). I’ve been working on my own recipes for years including cat, dog, and horse treats. There will be your basic flavored treats, but also treats more specified for conditions such arthritis support, digestive upsets, etc through use of herbal remedies specified for the species. I’m having a hard time deciding on the name. So far I’ve considered the following: Healthum Pet Treats, Back To Nature Treats, Angelic Paws Pet Treats, Bully Dog Bakery (I love but it’s not just for dogs so would it work?), and maybe something with Herbal in the name? Do any of those work for you? Would Bully Dog Bakery (with something stating it’s pet treats instead of dog in the logo) work? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

To Dad:
(Before you read this please read this thoroughly)
I have been doing a lot of research on cats and the benefits that they can bring to the household. In addition to the enjoyment we will receive from the cat, I will learn responsibility and we will be helping a cat that my have been euthanized otherwise. Additionally, cats are proven to reduce blood pressure and they are also proven to reduce stress in the household. I know you may be worried about the expense of adding a feline to the household (especially with today’s economy) but I can assure you that I have planned a budget to help cover the costs of the cat. I have a part time job and will contribute all of my money to the expenses of the cat BEFORE purchasing anything for myself. I understand the costs and have created a list of supplies as well as their costs to follow. I have also included a schedule for the care of the cat which shows when I will feed, clean the litter box, groom and train the cat. I am willing to sign a contract that if I do not take care of my obligations to the cat in terms of the cost or the responsibility I will lose a privilege such as TV, phone or computer for a length of time determined by you.

List of Costs
Cat from an animal shelter 0 or less (includes shots, spay/neuter)
Food per month
Litter per month
Litter box
Water and food bowls
Scratching post
Toys
Annual veterinary care (non emergency) or saved per month.

Total startup: 2 and Monthly after that:
Contract:

I Jonathan Glidewell accept to the duty of owning a cat. This will include of paying for the whole economical costs, paying for the supplies, grooming, training the cat, scooping up the cat’s poop when I go see the litter box I will scoop up the poop and pee. I will groom the cat regularly on a daily basis if it has long hair or if it is short haired every other day. If the cat bites or scratches up anyone I will get a small spray bottle and spray it and eventually it will realize that doing that is wrong. I will open up a saving’s account and save up money for the emergency vet. I will also plan to get the kitty just right after he got his shots and has been spayed/neutered.

Our seven month old girl cat gets red-rimmed eyes, sometimes pretty badly but it varies. She also always has dark matter in the corners of her eyes. We wipe it away but it comes right back. The boy cat (her brother) doesn’t get it so much, but a little.

There are fleas, but it’s winter and we comb them both with a flea comb often. We find very few fleas. Especially after having treated them with a natural spray-on flea remedy.

They both seem pretty healthy otherwise. Thanks so much.

Hoping somebody can help me out. I just lost my dearest cat, Puck- he developed crystals in his urine and was totally blocked and due to financial constraints I coudn’t save him (vet bill could hav easily broken K if everything went right). He had been living with my mother the past couple years and was eating friskies and 9lives, I switched him to Authority for sensitive skin and stomachs when I got my new place a month and a half ago…. vet said it could have been the food, or the stress of moving, or inadequate water intake (they have an auto waterer that I clean throughly every other day).
His best friend is left behind. Puck and Batman were best buddies since they were kittens. When the Bat was an orphan and little baby puck would clean him up and cuddle him, something that they continued for the next 3+ years….
Batman is the one with a sensitive stomach- . I decided since I don’t want to risk another kitty with crystals, I am doing everything I can do to prevent it. I have done a little research and want to transition batman to a really good quality canned diet (have heard that doing canned instead of dry increases their water consumption even if they do actually DRINK less…)
I picked up some Natural Balance canned food- I liked that it was all natural grain free, had cranberry, magnesium content was consistent with a diet suitable to not aggravate any urinary tract issues , didn’t contain dairy (batman gets WAY sick from cow milk) ..etc.. and he ate a bit…and proceeded to puke it right back up. same thing with the couple of mouthfuls this morning.
Any suggestions for natural/organic brands of canned catfood that are good for sentitive tummies? I think I’m going to exchange my remaining cans of Natural Balance for Wellness Brand- my sister uses Wellness dry food for her cat with chronic UTI (he’s on medication the rest of his life to control the alkalinity) so I’m assuming that it should be safe. Any other suggestions?
My next question is more of a personal thing,,, Puck was the kitty love of my life. He slept on my chest every single night, his head under my chin, his paws on each side of my neck, kneading and purring until he went to sleep. We would play fetch until he was panting. i’ve had animals i’ve loved, but never was this connected to another animal. His loss has been devastating. I feel so so SO guilty- maybe if I made more money I could have saved him, maybe if I had noticed he was sick earlier he would have been ok, etc….
I dont’ know if I can get another cat. I can afford SOME expensive vet bills (would have happily dropped about 0 to treat him this weekend. I would have been on ramen noodles until the next pay day, but I would have done it, but I couldn’t have afforded what it would have likely taken to save my little boy.). My mother has a cat she wants me to take. He’s a nice kitty, and he would get better food with me… but we tried him the other night and batman didn’t really like him when they lived together, and he just isn’t *my* kitty.
I’m not ready for a new cat…. Not right now. But I hate that Batman is sitting alone in my apartment all day with nobody to hang out with. I worry that he’s going to become lonely- he has spent every second that I have been home the past few days curled up my lap.
Taking steve would take financial burden off my mother who is financially pretty tight… he is happy and healthy with her (as well as any old feral tom can be… he’s neutered, not starving to death, not hit by a car, etc…)
Also, what if the same thing happens to another cat that I take in? I don’t know that I could handle the guilt. I can afford routine vet care and food no problem, but heroics just aren’t in my budget,

I think Batman would probably get along better if I got a younger kitten or young cat who is maybe a little timid that maybe he could mold into something he wants to live with…. I think that would be easier for him. But there are so many older cats in shelters….
What would you do? Take mom’s cat, improve his situation a little, improve my mom’s situation a little, but annoy my other cat to no end…
Adopt a cat from a shelter, maybe make batman unhappy, but possibly save a life…
Adopt a kitten, which is against my moral compass since they are so much easier to place than adults, but probably a lot easier on my existing kitty….

What premium canned cat food is best for my cat?

It seems that my cat has been getting soft stools off and on for awhile now, but also gets normal ones too. So I guess i’m going to stick to one brand of premium wet food and stay away from store bought and human food treats. So since there are a ton of brands out there, what ones could you guys recommend that would be best for my kittie’s sensitive digestive system? By premium, I mean Innova, California Natural, etc.
I did take my cat to her vet, and she gave her medicine. But she told me to feed her soft food only.

Any natural tick repellents for cats?

My cats are all treated with Frontline in the spray bottle. It works for the most part. My inside/outside cat keeps bringing in ticks stuck to his fur! They are not biting him though. Anything safe I can feed him or wash him with? I’d prefer natural stuff, but I have no objection to any kind of soaps that might have chemicals in them .. as long as they are safe! It needs to repel to keep them off him totally and not just from biting him.

Thank you in advance :)

Okay so we’ve swapped food on my cat everytime she’s gotten sick, but it takes about a week to figure out if it’s making her sick. Basically my cat throws up after eating cat food, we’ve gone through at least 7 different brands and flavors and to me I don’t think store brand food is good enough for her cause it keeps making her sick. She doesn’t overly shed or else I’d say it was hairballs, cause when she pukes its the food that comes out and I make sure to brush her daily.

So I was wondering, is there some homemade foods and stuff that are gentler on a cat’s stomach? My sister used to feed her half a can of tuna every now and than, and as long as it was in small amounts she didn’t get sick.

I’d rather not head to the store just to find some remedy for it cause I’ve tried before and it didn’t work too well (it made the problem worse) so I was hoping I could find some natural homemade foods for my kitteh. I’d be willing to work for a few hours on it, I love to cook and nothing is too good for her in my opinion :)
